Xbox One game demo list - where to find them, what you get

Our updated list of every game you can try before you buy

Demos aren't quite as easy to track down as they once were, are they? While on the Xbox 360 they're collected in one handy spot, you've got to dig a little deeper to seek out the (admittedly still quite small) offering of Xbox One demos that are currently on offer.

Fortunately, OXM is here to instruct and entertain. Here's every Xbox One demo we could track down. If you hear of any more, do be a dear and let us know.

Call of Duty: Ghosts

In a first for Call of Duty, this weekend will see a Call of Duty: Ghosts multiplayer demo appear on Xbox Live. Starting Friday 7th March, at 6:00pm GMT, the demo session will continue through until Monday 10th, and players on both Xbox One and Xbox 360 will be able to test out three multiplayer maps - Strikezone, Warhawk, and Prison break - and three multiplayer modes; Search & Rescue, Domination and Team Deathmatch. You'll also have access to Ghosts' new mode Extinction and its map Point of Contact. Might I recommend Extinction with a few friends in tow? It's alien-blastin' good.

Lego Marvel Super Heroes

Some assembly required. This most righteous demo for a most righteous game allows you to explore the first level of the full title, scenery smashing with The Hulk, taking in the sights as an airborne Iron Man and using Spider-Man's spidey senses to do battle against The Sandman.

Dead Rising 3

The Dead Rising 3 demo is set fairly early on in the game, in the Ingleton district within Los Perdidos. In the trial, which lasts 20 minutes but can be played twice per gamertag, you'll be able to combine weaponry, drive various vehicles, investigate tragic endings, try your hand at a Psychopath battle, rescue survivors, and take on a couple of side missions. As you can imagine, some prioritising on your part might be necessary. Download the demo by searching for Dead Rising 3 on your Xbox One.

If you prefer running after a ball to running away from the undead, the FIFA 14 demo lets you play a match in the Camp Nou as FC Barcelona, AC Milan, Manchester City, Tottenham, Paris Saint-Germain, Borussia Dortmund, Boca Juniors, NY Red Bulls or as one of the unique demo FIFA Ultimate Teams. I have no idea what any of that means, but it sure sounds sportsy. You can get downloading by saying "Xbox Bing, show me game demos" and selecting FIFA 14 from the list.

NBA Live 14

If you prefer catching balls with your hands rather than with your feet (snarf snarf), then EA's got you covered with an NBA demo to complement its FIFA 14 offering. You can take a shortened regular season game for a test spin, playing as one of four available teams; the Cleveland Cavaliers, Oklahoma City Thunder, New York Knicks or the Golden State Warriors. You'll also be able to have a sneaky peek at the game's Ultimate Team feature.

Kinect Sports Pre-Season Trial

Be first to try Kinect Sports Rivals and experience the power and precision of Kinect for Xbox One. Tear up the waves in Wake Racing with one or two players, and blast past the competition to become an International Champion. Play from the Kinect Sports Rivals Hub and work together as a community and earn enough points to win exclusives prizes to use in the full release in spring 2014. And hey, you can download the trial here.

Zoo Tycoon

An unlikely gem in Xbox One's launch lineup, Zoo Tycoon scored one of the highest review aggregates of the console's entire release window. And have you SEEN how fuzzy the lemurs are? Seriously, it's ridiculous. This was also one of the first demos to surface on the Xbox One, although it still remains tricky to find on the console itself.

Zumba World Party

Before today, I thought a Zumba was one of those little robot things that you got to clean your floors - how wrong I was. Turns out that a Zumba is a kind of exercise game - a popular one at that - and you can try out the newest one for free via your Xbox One. Not a bad demo to have if you've worked your way through all of Xbox Fitness' free Gold Subscriber content. That is, if you're into the whole personal health and looking good thing. Anyway, here's a cat dressed as a shark riding a roomba.

Keep an eye out - we'll update this list as and when more game demos find their way onto the Xbox One. In the meantime, don't forget to check out our continually updated list of Xbox 360 games you can play for precisely nothing.
