Microsoft teases "surprise" Xbox One game reveals - could it be Epic's new shooter?

Killer Instinct, Kinect Sports Rivals, Ryse, Forza 5 and more all playable at PAX

Microsoft's Major Nelson was in full-on Enigma Mode last night, hinting at a number of exciting revelations at the Penny Arcade Expo in Seattle, Washington, which kicks off on Friday 30th August.

There will be 60 Xbox One and Xbox 360 demo pods at the show, the Major discussed in a blog post. Games set to feature include Forza 5, Ryse, Project Spark, Killer Instinct, Battlefield 4, Kinect Sports Rivals, Fable Anniversary, Dead Rising 3 - "and of course there will be other surprises at the booth, including games that I'm not at liberty to divulge... yet."

Intriguing, no? Let's run through a few possibilities. One, this could be a new indie title, confirmed for the platform in the wake of Microsoft's ID@Xbox announcement last week. Two, it could be one of the Microsoft Studios projects we already know about, that hasn't attracted a title or a proper unveiling - Black Tusk's untitled urban action game springs to mind (trailer down the page). And three - hmm, Epic has an unannounced something to show off at its own booth, as per this Twitch.TV schedule.

Could said unannounced something be a new Gears of War? Unlikely, if Microsoft Studios boss Phil Spencer is to be believed - Gears on Xbox One will take "some time", he told us a month or two back, as Epic and Microsoft need to work out what the franchise "means". Epic does have a "bigger, triple-A shooter project" in the can, however.

Any thoughts?
