Microsoft's Xbox One reveal might not have made the company as many friends as it could have, but the new console appears to be selling like hot cakes anyway. UK retailer Blockbuster reports that Xbox One has already broken all pre-order records set in the company's entire 24 year history.
"We are delighted by the huge number of pre-orders that we have received so far for the new Microsoft console," Blockbuster's head of games James Morton said in a statement.
"At Blockbuster, we have a fantastic array of adrenaline-fuelled console games for sale or rental. Our expert staff know gaming and they know consoles and these pre-orders are testament to our customers' trust in us as a leading gaming retailer.
"With Sony releasing the PS4 in the near future, the next few months are going to be an exciting time for our staff and customers at Blockbuster and we can't wait to hear more details from both Sony and Microsoft at the E3 Expo next month."
And all this before we even know full details on the console, its launch date, or even its price. For everything we know so far, check out OXM's definitive guide to the Xbox One. For all confirmed software, check out this Xbox One games round-up.
Update - OXM forumite Thos. makes the point that the Blockbuster website doesn't currently have a section for PS4 or the Wii U, suggesting that a certain degree of Shenanigans may be in play here. It does, however, have all three next gen consoles listed for purchase.
