Thief 4 developer Eidos Montreal will have more to reveal about forthcoming projects "within the upcoming months". The rest of this post will accordingly be dictated to an intern, because I've just crossed my fingers so hard I've broken my hands. Care to reveal more about the fate of Garrett, Square Enix? Pretty please?
The news comes care of a pair of LinkedIn resumes spotted by OnlySP - namely, those of UI specialist Alexandre Richer, whose credits include Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Watch Dogs and Tomb Raider, and artist Louis Auger, who has worked on Prince of Persia, Assassin's Creed 2 and Deus Ex: Human Revolution.
Perhaps appropriately, the next game in the Thief series is an increasingly murky prospect. Last June, studio general manager Stephane D'Astous told OXM to expect more news before the end of the year - alas, we've heard nothing from him since then. There's a leaked concept video doing the rounds (watch it below) which looks highly promising.
According to D'Astous, Thief 4 needs to be as good as or better than Deus Ex: Human Revolution - a game we scored 10/10. The game will offer more than just stealth but won't, D'Astous insists, destroy what fans loved about the original trilogy.
"In Deus Ex, we really wanted to give different options in how to play, and we will want to bring a certain level of that to Thief," he explained to us at the time. "I think if people spend $60 on a game, they want more than corridor shoot shoot, corridor shoot shoot. People are asking for a little more, so give them the choice of how they want to play."
Hoping to hear more soon. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go dip my fists in a bucket of ice.
