Assassin's Creed 3 DLC The Infamy adds wolf allies, bear strength, invisible cloak

So that's what they meant by "whimsical", then...

You needn't look further than the promotional art for Assassin's Creed 3 DLC campaign The Tyranny of King Washington to know that it's madder than a sack of adders, but quite how demented the new content would prove we had no idea.

As reported by Eurogamer, the campaign's three expansions introduce a short-ranged Eagle teleport move, the ability to punch like a bear, a player-directed wolfpack, and warpaint that renders Connor invisible.

You'll get access to the same by drinking a special hallucinogenic tea, distilled from the bark of a massive tree that's been added to the game's Frontier environment. After imbibing a cup, Connor will be transported to an alternate sky dimension to receive gifts from the Native American gods. Obviously. The new abilities eat into your health bar, so careful use is advisable.

The DLC also folds in another of Ubisoft's famed viral Animus-based meta-games, in the shape of a garbled introductory video you can un-garble by sniffing out glitches in the world itself. Perhaps the craziest twist of all, however, is that the events of The Tyranny form part of the official Assassin's Creed storyline. "By the end of the last episode you will see how this relates to Connor and the real George Washington," game director Marc-Alexis Côté commented. "This experience is canon."

Ubisoft released a large Assassin's Creed 3 update earlier today to prepare the ground for the DLC. I'm not particularly fond of Assassin's Creed 3, but I'll be checking this one out. Will you? The first instalment lands on 19th February, and will cost 800 MP. You can also buy all three in one go via the Assassin's Creed Season Pass, blah blah, massive savings, etc.
