Xbox Live hit by sign-in problems, Microsoft investigating

Xbox.com also hit by bugs

Heads up, boys and girls - Xbox Live appears to be having a wobbly evening.

"Some users may currently be experiencing issues with signing into Xbox LIVE," Microsoft has announced via the Xbox Support Twitter feed. "We're looking into this, thanks for your patience." Hotmail and Xbox.com have also been hit by errors which stop certain pages loading.

We're knocking around the office for a while tonight for Top Secret Purposes, so we'll keep you updated. Let us know how you get on in the comments.

Update 1: OK, we've managed to persuade Xbox.com to open up, mostly by saying "OH PLEASE" in tones of escalating nasality. The following is from the Support page:

Users may experience difficulties with the following services:
Creating new Xbox LIVE accounts, managing those accounts, or recovering an account on a different console
Users will have been disconnected from Xbox LIVE.
