Crytek's Redemption revealed: the smartest, prettiest shooter you'll never play?

Images of cancelled project evoke Heavy Rain and Half-Life

Pre-production shots from a mysterious cancelled Crytek shooter, Redemption, have appeared on that there internet, care of art director Eric Cochonneau and his swanky artist's blog.

Glue them all together, and you've got a sophisticated, predominantly rural-set adventure which might have involved protecting a young girl (a key witness, perhaps?) from the attentions of Slovenian mobsters. Woe unto the fallen.

I've put 31 screenshots in the gallery below, but there are more through the link, including exhilarating gun renders. The game was in development at Frankfurt, Germany till 2008, ran on CryEngine, and would have been published by EA for Xbox 360 and PS3.
