Thief 4. The game's closer than you think. It could be staring at you right this very moment - a coiled silhouette in the shadows of the internet's attic, hauling back on a bow of elaborate and arcane construction. Eidos Montreal hasn't let much slip on the subject, but if there's one thing we know about Garrett, it's that you'll never hear him coming. That "leaked CGI trailer" from last week? The one Square Enix hasn't pulled? It could be a diversion.
"We will be able to be a little more communicative later on, hopefully before the year's end," studio general manager Stephane D'Astous told OXM in a chat you'll read in full when you buy issue 87, which will be immediately after you've read these words. "Right now, Thief is our priority and we're putting everything behind it to make sure it's as successful as our first game."
D'Astous hasn't shied away from comparisons with Deus Ex: Human Revolution, but insists that Thief 4 presents "a completely different set of problems". Promisingly, he thinks people expect "more than corridor shoot shoot, corridor shoot shoot" when they spend 60 dollars on a game. Our fears that the much-demanded four-quel will show up endowed with a cover system have been laid to rest for the moment.
Thief 4. What are you hoping for?
