Strange proceedings are proceeding in Japan right now, as Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima unveils Zone of the Enders 3 to a rapturous audience. Or at least, something that looks like Zone of the Enders 3. Something Enders-shaped. Something called the "Enders Project", involving giant robots modelled on Ancient Egyptian gods, which may run on Kojima Productions' much-touted FOX Engine.
That's the same FOX Engine that will "pave the way" for multiplatform Kojima titles, yes, especially multiplatform titles that feature women's underwear and tanks. (Safe for work, don't worry.)
Presenting at Shinjuku Japan today, Kojima showed off concept artworks and an in-engine render. The game is a direct sequel to Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner, and takes place within an ancient civilization. We have no idea why they aren't calling it Zone of the Enders 3.
"We want to make that game as well, the only thing is that we don't have staff who are able to work on that game," Kojima said of the latter last year. "We have an environment where we could work on it using the FOX Engine. If we had staff available to work on that game, we would like to."
