Skyrim update 1.6: mounted combat! Kinect patch! Corrupted save fix!

"We remain committed to supporting the game," says Bethesda

Skyrim update 1.6 has been announced and detailed, and it makes for pleasant reading if you're fond of horseys. That's right - mounted combat is in, as are yet more gameplay tweaks and fixes, including rejigged Skyrim Kinect support.

"The team at Bethesda Game Studios is excited to announce another new feature making its way into Skyrim... Mounted Combat!" bellows the Bethblog, bouncing up and down like a child attempting to coax a gallop out of a wooden pony. "Like the recently added Kinect support (360) and new kill cameras, this highly-requested feature that was seen in the Skyrim Game Jam video is arriving for free."

Thanks again to all our fans," it adds. "We remain committed to supporting the game through our free updates, mod tools, and more. And yes, we're still working on our first add-on, Dawnguard - some great stuff to show you soon, stay tuned!"

If you can't wait that long, peruse my cavernous write-ups on the subject of Skyrim's first DLC pack. On the one paw, a revived Order of the Mythic Dawn and all-new trips to Oblivion. On the other, a Snow Elf invasion. Take your pick.
