A leaked Ubisoft 2012 release schedule has added weight to rumours that the next Splinter Cell will be titled Splinter Cell: Retribution.
Also mentioned on the list is a new Assassin's Creed - yet to be announced, but all-but-guaranteed for 2012 given Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot's insistence that annual Assassin's Creed releases are "necessary to satisfy demand".
Bringing up the rear, a new Just Dance game. You're probably not quite so excited about that. Here's the schedule in full, care of Metro.
Brothers In Arms: Furious 4 (360/PS3/PC)
Far Cry 3 (360/PS3/PC)
I Am Alive (XBLA/SEN)
Ghost Recon: Future Soldier (360/PS3/PC))
Ghost Recon Online (Wii U/PC)
Splinter Cell: Retribution (360/PS3/PC)
Prince Of Persia (Wii/3DS)
Assassin's Creed III (360/PS3/Wii U/PC)
Just Dance Final Party (Wii/Kinect/Move)
The last Splinter Cell title, Conviction, opted for more of a mob-based, high-action approach than its predecessors while still emphasising pre-planning and stealth. Matt thinks the series has lost out to Assassin's Creed's success.
Assassin's Creed: Revelations may be the high water mark for Assassin's Creed 2 spin-offs - many of its new features feel like padding. AC2 frontman Ezio Auditore may yet return in the next game, however, presumably thanks to the Animus and its epoch-bridging capabilities.
