Microsoft plays down PS3's Mass Effect announcement

PlayStation3 might have Mass Effect 2 but Xbox 360 is still the series' true home.

Microsoft has played down the significance of BioWare announcing Mass Effect 2 for PlayStation3, reports CVG.

"With both Mass Effect titles launching first on Xbox 360 combined with the wealth of available paid downloadable content on Xbox Live today, Xbox 360 remains the best place to experience the Mass Effect franchise," Microsoft said in a statement.

"Mass Effect 1, first published by Microsoft in 2007, will remain exclusive to Xbox 360... the original Mass Effect is absolutely an Xbox 360 exclusive, making Xbox 360 the only place to get the full Mass Effect experience."

EA has said that the PlayStation3 version of Mass Effect 2 will have "hours of bonus content" but it hasn't been confirmed whether this will be brand new content or if it will come packaged with existing DLC for the 360 version.
